From 1 January 2022 claims handlers are required to have authorisation under an Australian financial service licence (AFSL) to provide claims handling and settling services, or to have become an authorised representative of a relevant AFSL holder.
Claimants are entitled to ask whether those who are providing assistance to them in handling claims are licensed.
